<h2><span>MORE HARDWARE.</span> <em>BETTER HARDWARE.</em></h2>

You know the sound. A tick or chirp on cold start that fades as the engine warms up. Maybe an exhaust smell in the engine bay, or boost that isn't quite what it used to be. That's the classic 3.5L EcoBoost exhaust manifold leak. Everyone blames the manifolds themselves, and they're half right. The other half is the studs holding them on.

The OEM studs are carbon alloy steel with an upper service temperature of just 370 to 425°C (698 to 797°F), a limit the EcoBoost pushes past every day. The factory nuts don't help either: they lock by deforming the threads, which is why they're one-time-use parts. Add years of heat cycling and the coatings burn off, clamp force bleeds away, and fatigue builds until stud heads snap off and the chirping starts. More bolt holes won't fix that, and neither will installing the same hardware that just failed.

This Full-Race Formline® Exhaust Manifold Hardware Kit fixes it at the source. Our studs are machined from A286, a high-nickel superalloy developed for jet engines that holds its strength and clamp load up to around 650°C (1202°F), hundreds of degrees past the point where the factory studs have already gone soft. Instead of a nut that locks by crushing itself onto the stud and tearing up the threads every time it’s installed or removed, ours have a rolled anti-rotation thread built in. The joint locks mechanically so nothing gets deformed, and the included anti-seize is all it takes to protect the threads for the next time the manifolds come off.

The complete fix for EcoBoost exhaust leaks is our Formline® Turbo Manifolds, engineered to resist the warping and cracking that plague the stock castings, with this hardware already included in the box. Not ready for the full upgrade? Replacing the OEM hardware with this standalone kit is the right place to start the next time your manifolds come off.

Application List

  • 2011-2025 Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost
  • 2017-2025 Ford Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost
  • 2021-2025 Ford F-150 3.5L PowerBoost
  • 2015-2025 Ford Expedition 3.5L EcoBoost
  • 2015-2025 Ford Transit 3.5L EcoBoost
  • 2015-2025 Lincoln Navigator 3.5L EcoBoost

Features & Benefits

  • A286 high-nickel superalloy construction. Retains strength at exhaust temperatures where the factory studs have already lost more than half their rated yield strength.

  • Rolled anti-rotation thread. Locks the nut without deforming a single thread, unlike the OEM crush-style nut that destroys itself (and the stud) to stay tight. A dab of the included anti-seize is the only maintenance the Full-Race hardware needs to prevent stud wear.

  • Excellent creep resistance. No slow, permanent stretch under sustained heat and clamp load, so preload holds through years of thermal cycling.

  • Outstanding oxidation and corrosion resistance. High-nickel, non-magnetic alloy with no sacrificial coating to burn off.

  • Direct OEM-location fitment. M8 studs that install where the factory hardware lived; no drilling or modification necessary.

  • Helps stop leaks before they start. Cheap insurance against exhaust chirp, boost loss, and snapped stud extraction jobs.

Carbon alloy fasteners get their strength from heat treatment, and once they operate near or above that treatment temperature they anneal, soften, and lose clamp load. The factory hardware's service ceiling is just 370 to 425&deg;C (698 to 797&deg;F), and by 600&deg;C (1112&deg;F) it retains only about a quarter of its rated yield strength. On an EcoBoost, exhaust hardware routinely runs past that ceiling. Only a high-temperature alloy like A286, rated to around 650&deg;C (1202&deg;F), solves it at the source. </div> </div> <div> <button>How do I know if my F-150 has an exhaust manifold leak?</button> <div> The most common sign is a tick or chirp on cold start that quiets down as the engine warms and the metal expands to mask the gap. Other giveaways: an exhaust smell in the engine bay during warm-up, a loss of boost pressure, or black carbon tracking at the manifold joint where gas has been escaping. Any one of these means the clock is running on your factory hardware. </div> </div> <div> <button>What is A286?</button> <div> A high-nickel superalloy developed for jet engines. It keeps its rated strength at fastener temps past 1200&deg;F, well beyond where carbon-steel or standard stainless hardware has already given up, and it resists the corrosion that welds factory studs into the head. </div> </div> <div> <button>Won't adding more bolts fix the leak problem?</button> <div> It's the most common misconception on this platform. Bolt count isn't the root cause. The stock manifolds warp, and warping manifolds pull weakened factory studs out of the head. The fix is a manifold that stays flat (our Formline&reg; 347 stainless manifolds) and hardware that holds clamp load at temperature (this kit). </div> </div> <div> <button>Do I need this if I'm buying Formline&reg; Manifolds or a Turbo Kit?</button> <div> No. This standalone kit is for anyone servicing their OEM manifolds, replacing a stock manifold, or fixing a leak without doing the full manifold upgrade yet. </div> </div> <div> <button>Is this a hard install?</button> <div> The hardware itself is straightforward: chase the holes, install the studs and nuts to the proper torque spec. Getting to the manifolds on a 3.5L EcoBoost is the real labor, which is exactly why you should never button one up with reused or new failure-prone factory hardware. </div> </div> </div> <script> document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", function () { const questions = document.querySelectorAll(".faq-question"); questions.forEach((question) => { question.addEventListener("click", function () { this.classList.toggle("active"); const answer = this.nextElementSibling; if (answer.style.display === "block") { answer.style.display = "none"; } else { answer.style.display = "block"; } }); }); }); </script> </body> </html>
