NO SHUTTERS, NO CODES: THE CLEAN FIX FOR 2024+ TRUCKS

Starting with the 2024 model year, the F-150 and Raptor check that the active grille shutters are actually there. Each shutter motor sweeps, meets the end of its travel, and reports back. Pull the shutters for a high-mount intercooler and both motors swing through empty air. The truck calls that a fault and lights the dash. Upper and lower, two codes, every key cycle.

The usual answers are a tune that masks the fault or a generic bracket that holds one motor somewhere it can still find a stop. Both get the light off. Neither was designed around the intercooler sitting in your grille.

Application List

  • 2024+ Ford F-150 3.5L EcoBoost
  • 2024+ Ford Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost

Important Notes:

  • Required when installing the Full-Race high-mount intercooler on a 2024+ truck. Both shutter motors throw codes without it.

  • Sold on its own here, or as an add-on from the Full-Race 2017+ F-150 and Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost Intercooler Kit page.

  • Want the upper motor out of the grille opening? Add the Upper Shutter Motor Extension Harness.

Features & Benefits

  • No check engine light, no tune. The 2024+ F-150 and Raptor need to see resistance when they actuate the shutters. The limiters supply it mechanically, so the fault never sets and nothing has to be masked in the calibration.
  • Covers both motors. One kit handles the upper and the lower, so you are not sourcing a second bracket after the dash lights up.
  • Machined to each motor, not one-size-fits-both. The upper motor housing is thicker and its through-hole is tapered. Each limiter uses a CNC-machined peg cut to its own motor, so the fit is positive and the motor finds its stop every cycle.
  • Aluminum where it counts. 3D-printed aluminum bodies and CNC-machined pegs. No plastic to go brittle behind a grille that sees heat every day.
  • Designed around the intercooler. This is the same engineering team that moved the EcoBoost intercooler into the grille in 2011. The limiters were built for that layout, not adapted to it.
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty. We stand behind our products with a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

What’s Included

  • One upper shutter motor limiter

  • One lower shutter motor limiter

  • Mounting hardware

Do an active grille shutter delete and the motors sweep through nothing, so the truck flags both as faulted. The limiters give each motor a stop to hit, which is all the truck is checking for. </div> </div> <div> <button>Do I need this kit with the Full-Race intercooler?</button> <div> On a 2024+ truck, yes. The high-mount intercooler takes the place of the factory shutters, and both shutter motors will code without the limiters. On 2017 to 2023 trucks the intercooler installs without them. </div> </div> <div> <button>Can I just tune the code out instead?</button> <div> You can, if you are already running a tune. The limiters keep the fix mechanical, so it stays in place through any future tune or dealer flash. </div> </div> <div> <button>Why are the upper and lower limiters different?</button> <div> Because the motors are different. The upper motor has a thicker housing and a tapered through-hole that the lower does not. Each peg is machined to its own motor so it seats properly. A single generic bracket cannot do both. </div> </div> <div> <button>What about the upper motor hanging in the grille?</button> <div> With the shutters out, the upper motor has nowhere to live and ends up visible in the grille opening. It is optional; the limiter does its job either way. </div> </div> <div> <button>Does this affect my vehicle's warranty?</button> <div> Modifying your F-150 or Raptor with aftermarket parts can affect its warranty. Consult your warranty agreement or dealer to understand the impact on your coverage. </div> </div> </div> <script> document.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded", function () { const questions = document.querySelectorAll(".faq-question"); questions.forEach((question) => { question.addEventListener("click", function () { this.classList.toggle("active"); const answer = this.nextElementSibling; if (answer.style.display === "block") { answer.style.display = "none"; } else { answer.style.display = "block"; } }); }); }); </script> </body> </html>
