The Eventuri BMW F-Chassis B58 Black Carbon Intake System is engineered to improve airflow efficiency and manage intake air temperatures on BMW models equipped with the turbocharged B58 inline-six engine. Replacing the factory airbox, the system combines Eventuri's patented carbon fiber Venturi housing with an integrated MAF tube, a dedicated carbon fiber cold-air scoop, and dual-layer thermal shielding. Eventuri reports performance increases of 12–15 hp and 14–18 lb-ft of torque.
The intake housing is manufactured from prepreg carbon fiber and incorporates a reverse-mounted, high-flow double-cone filter. Its internal geometry transitions progressively from the filter opening into the integrated MAF section and toward the turbocharger inlet. By combining the filter housing and intake tube into a continuous carbon fiber assembly, Eventuri reduces the number of internal connections and abrupt changes in airflow direction found in conventional intake configurations.
Thermal management is a central component of the B58 intake design. A carbon fiber filter shroud works alongside a double-layer primary heat shield and a separate double-layer secondary shield positioned near the turbocharger inlet. Each aluminum shield incorporates an insulating air gap between its layers to reduce heat transfer from the adjacent exhaust manifold and surrounding engine components. Eventuri reports a temperature differential exceeding 90°C across the secondary shield during thermal testing.
A dedicated prepreg carbon fiber intake scoop mounts behind the front grille and directs incoming ambient air toward the factory duct openings. Its curved profile is designed to guide airflow into the intake feed while limiting abrupt directional changes. This arrangement supplies the shielded filter area with outside air while the vehicle is moving, without relying on a fully enclosed airbox.
Eventuri evaluated the system through back-to-back dynamometer testing on a standard BMW M240i, monitoring temperatures to maintain consistent test conditions. The resulting measurements showed increases in power and torque across a substantial portion of the engine speed range, with the intake designed to operate with the factory engine management system.
