The exact same EA825 4.0-liter hot-vee V8 that powers the RS6 and RSQ8 also runs in the SQ7 and SQ8, and there's a genuinely great story behind how it got there. In Europe, the SQ7 nameplate's original engine was a 4.0 TDI diesel V8, before Audi brought the platform over to the twin-turbo TFSI gas engine that every US-market SQ7 and SQ8 has run from day one. That's the same hot-vee, twin-turbo hardware found across the whole EA825 family, engineered here to deliver serious, quattro-fed power with the everyday, all-weather usability that makes the SQ7 and SQ8 genuinely great daily performance SUVs.
Audi calibrated the SQ7/SQ8 with real performance ceiling in reserve, and Weistec's recalibration has enormous room to work with. It's the same approach behind every Weistec ECU tune: a software-only recalibration that builds on what Audi already engineered into the hardware rather than fighting it, developed and validated to an OEM level of rigor, with factory knock protection, thermal management, and diagnostics left completely intact. On the SQ7/SQ8's EA825, that adds up to an additional 192 horsepower and 117 lb-ft over stock, turning an engine with real reserve capacity into one that finally gets to use it.
