The 720S is where McLaren started over, on purpose. It launched the second generation of the Super Series built around an entirely new engine, the 4.0-liter M840T, replacing the M838T after roughly six years of duty. McLaren says about 41 percent of the M840T's components are new versus its predecessor: a longer stroke, twin-scroll turbochargers spinning low-inertia titanium-aluminum turbines, actively controlled wastegates, and a reworked cooling system, with only the bore carrying over unchanged from before. It arrived with a factory rating of 710 hp, a meaningful leap over the outgoing 650S, and introduced the clean-sheet design language and dihedral doors that would go on to define the Super Series for years to come.

Weistec's ECU calibration for the 720S recalibrates that factory M840T's own software. It isn't fighting the platform, it's building directly on engineering McLaren already validated. Knock protection, thermal management, and every OEM diagnostic routine remain fully intact. Delivered to the same standard as a factory calibration program, it takes this 720S from 710 hp and 568 lb-ft to 952 hp and 720 lb-ft, turning a car McLaren built from a blank sheet into something even McLaren's own engineers didn't put on the table.
